SKY Academy, Venice - Principal's Welcome

 

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Thank you for your interest in SKY Academy Venice. We are a publicly funded middle school serving students in the greater Venice areas including North Port, Nokomis and Osprey. Open since 2011, we are a long standing Sarasota charter school.  The strength of our core academic programming is evident in our A rated standing for the last ten years with the State of Florida.  Sky is also recognized as a High Performing Charter School in the state of Florida.  

SKY stands for Strength and Knowledge at the YMCA. Our focus is based on research that proves physical activity builds and conditions the brain for learning. In fact, schools around the nation using this philosophy have shown outstanding results in student achievement, fitness and well being.  Partnered with the YMCA, students of SKY Academy all receive free memberships to the YMCA worth $300 a year. Families of our students receive discounted benefits worth an additional $180. Students attending receive free tuition and free bus transportation. After care is provided by the YMCA for a fee of $90 per month.  Please register here.  

Our students have access to on grade level courses as well as honors coursework and can earn up to four high school credits prior to leaving SKY at the end of their 8th grade year.  We provide access to interscholastic athletics  with 11 different teams on campus and also maintain extracurricular activities such as art club, robotics, and chess.
